Welcome to My Blog!

Hihi and welcome, to whoever is reading this~

My Simplicity Complex is my first blog. It seems like everyone is making one of these now-a-days so I decided that it is time to join the fad.
This blog will function as something like a diary or a journal log for myself concerning my new college life or just about life in general.

>:3 I have accounts on various art/anime/games involved sites such as deviantArt and Gaiaonline.
I don't appreciate cyber-stalking but you can check out my stuff under the name: ThreeWayDart.

Is the ration of people that still has a heart.

[A Sad World]

Totally supports my believe that 1/3 of humanity (at the least) should be destroyed within the next decade.

Cookie Mafia

I know it's been forever since I posted anything here, and this first post since school started may seem like I'm high, but it's all true! It JUST happened like 5 min ago!

I was down at Rogers to get some late night ice cream (everyone does that once in a while, right?) and when I was walking out of Blake I saw two guys in full black dress suits and wearing shades in the middle of the night! One of the guys was holding a spiffy looking suitcase that screams 'biohazard' like the kind that carries drugs in movies. So I watch them head to the other side of Blake past that parking lot place.

Then I went to Rogers and made my purchase. As I was getting my ice cream scoop from the worker there, the same two dude walks in and up to the cashier. They didn't have the suitcase this time, and the guy w/ the shades that had white rims (the other was black rimmed) asks the cashier if she wants some cookies. And he continuously insisted that 'it's nothing suspicious' which made it more suspicious. Then he proceeds to claims that the two of them are from a secret services and they just go around letting people try cookies? Or something? When the cashier continue to say no (with good reasons, I'm sure. Otherwise why would you reject a bunch of free cookies?) the guy reaches in his pocket and...

.... pulled out his wallet. (wtf lol!?) Then he asked if he can have a chocolate chip cookie and then paid the girl.

Weirdest thing yet. And I live in San Diego now.

What ABOUT my mother?

I recalled a time in middle school after I first moved to America. This kid I don't know was attempted to cuss (a supposedly monumental moment in every child's life, I'm sure) at me, but unfortunately I was not talking to him to begin with. So when he shouted 'Your Mother!' at me all of a sudden, I did not receive the insult as most would. Do not be mistaken, there IS a Chinese-equivalent for 'Your mother', and it most likely means the same thing in this context. However, as I was translating it in my mind, I was more distracted by the fact that he didn't say 'Your Father' at me. 'Your Father' is actually an existing insult in Chinese, and it holds the same meaning but only for the other member of your family.
Thinking back on it today, I started talking to my mom about it. We joked about how the reason why Americans don't seem to have much insults directed at the paternal member of the family is because if you dared to insult the man of the house, you'll most likely be chased down by a rifle. Then, mulling over some dish-washing, I realized how sexist that was. While we were pointing out and making fun of the way American insults are belittling the role of women, we were unconsciously placing the males in a higher rank in terms of power by justifying the reason 'Your father' is not a common saying. I guess next time someone attempts to insult my mother, I'll be unable to think of anything except this incident, and maybe snicker a little when I deem the situation safe enough to do so.

During our conversation, my mother told me that the reason such insults were so effective in the past was because if a family were to lose a parent, they would suffer greatly at the lost of financial support. Hence why the related insults such as 'Death to your mother/father' are so effective, and also why the male is included in the Chinese version of this insult. I did a brief wiki-search about 'Your mother', and apparently it focuses on the 'widespread sentiments of filial piety', of which becomes offensive to all women. In a shallow conclusion, I was able to guess that while they both serve similar purposes, the cultural differences between the Chinese 'Your mother', and it's American counterpart are vast.

Jellyfish hair

Like, in the beginning of summer break, I went to my usual stylist for a hair cut. I meant to say 'cascade layer from the top down and stop at the jawline' for a short hair cut. Somehow it turned out weird in Chinese and became 'chop off the top and stop at the jaw but keep the rest'.

I was pretty miffed about it for like one hour, then I was quickly sidetracked by that Vietnamese 3 color drink my mom got me, and now I quite like it. It's kinda cute and spunky. 8D

Inorganic Salt

It's summer now, I've missed so much since my last post, so I'll just skip them. It was crazy moving out, my muscles hurt like I never exercised before... wait, I didn't. So now I'm finally back home, took my cat very little convincing to know I'm not a threat. Mostly because I let her have meat. Bribery, the simplest form of persuasion ever. I'm taking sociology and anthropology during summer to get the GE done faster, but ironically I'm hitting 1.7 GPA and am on probation until I get it up. I'll manage. Luckily the first 16 units of fail can be made up. So if I work hard I should be okay. Better shape up I suppose.

Finals week was rather crazy, and after seeing hyperboleandahalf's blogs today (and laughing at her simple dog) I drew this:
That conversation actually happened. I burst out laughing while getting my cola. That girl studied too hard for chem that's for sure. While I on the other hand totally didn't study enough. OTL

Well, life goes on. I'll work hard and see what happens.

Demon 72

Demon 72, awesome new manga. The art is pretty, even if the poses are awkward. It reminds me greatly of Black Butler, except even more BL implications. *drools*

HvZ got called off, so instead of hosting a game I'm joining another one in week 7. Yea

Super bright blue sky

I totally forgot to update my blog since the beginning of the Spring break because of some technical difficulty. While Popeye was trying to partition my mac with windows b/c I've been bugging him since forever about getting Paint Tool Sai, the disc wiped Mac off my laptop and I lost all files... and osx. So the majority of the break was spent with my poor baby in ICU and/or me trying to salvage some of my lost files. I'm still in Orphan 00745 lol.

Before the last day of break, the gang hung out together. Yushan, Amy, Hieu and I went to SF to do some shopping. And I got me a pair of shorts from Forever21. It was put to good use yesterday when the weather hit almost 80's. C:

Weather's been lovely yesterday and today. I woke up around 10 am at the brightest blue sky I've seen in a long time. But it gets cold again for a week starting tomorrow, so bummer to that. I'm wearing a sun dress before the chances run out. >:3

Ever since the quarter began I've been really, insanely busy with RCA because I'm still trying to get all the paper work back and organized, and I'm hosting Humans vs. Zombies after all. It has been a lonely battle, and yesterday was my first Info session for the game and only 5 people came. Everyone else promised to come to today's, they better.

Well, I can't blame them. Even I have been studying and preoccupied by the Matsuri Japanese festival at UCSD. Many of my friends (and I) were all shocked to see our poor grades last quarter (I even got a C in math, which is normally impossible), so we're bucking up and actually studying...
right when the weather starts to get good too.

Besides nomming on ACTUAL takoyaki (with real octopus and shit inside!), kinako mochi (the sugar just melts over the surface and forms a caramelized crust), chicken skewers, and choco banana. I went and won myself a water yo-yo and made a Mukuro fan... I couldn't help it lol. I saw that yellow paper and just HAD to do it. They didn't have red marker tho, so I can to color it when I got back to my room. There was a silent auction to raise funds for Japan tsunami relief, and someone brought in a 100 days old, pure bred Yorkshire Terrier with a starter bid of $500. Poor thing, didn't even have a cage, and it was SO overwhelmed by the sheer amount of noise and people trying to pet him. He would probably get brain trauma after all the petting yesterday.

It was very cute tho.

That pretty much sums up things, I have to go study bio now.

Autism in the air, shrimps and crabs, and Popeye's nonprofitable shirt-business

Today was a longgggg day.

I got up around 9:15am and started doing the final round of clean up in my room. Packing up the laptop, wires, and taking out the trash and stuff. Then by 10:15am I was out the door to Peterson's for the UCSD Shuttle to the airport, I was dumb enough to take a sideway seat and basically felt a bit car sick on the way. Another girl going back to oakland (there were a lot of us) told me that her mom said that there was rain in the Bay Area, I worried the plane might get delayed.

It did, but only for about half an hour or so.

When we did get one the plane, I was lucky enough to score a front row seat with lots of leg rooms. However, I was unfortunate enough to have my carry-on and my backpack in two completely different compartments since there was this weird bump in my chair and my backpack couldn't fit under. I napped for about half an hour through and was then awakened by something awkward.

There are two blind passengers on our ride, one with a guide dog on board and the other with something I'm guessing to be Autism. The man with Autism had to use the bathroom midway into the flight, but when he got out of the tiny stall he was startled by the sudden change in space size or just the general rocking or SOMETHING. He freaked and immediately plastered himself on the wall and hugged the ceiling, and he was tall enough to do it too. The two flight attendants had no idea what to do and he was twitching so hard and apologizing because he knows his body is acting against the common decency but he was just panicking. In the end I had to switch seat with him because my seat was the first seat of the first row where the attendants can keep an eye on him (dunno why they didn't do so in the first place) and I sat next to the other blind lady. She was named Clara and she was a very nice lady, and her guide-dog was incredibly cute. It took my feet as it's pillow and sorta nudged my feet together towards her until she liked the position, and fell asleep on them. My leg went numb half way but I endured it, it was too cute.

Due to the weather and the slow evacuation of the passengers because of the handicapped duo, I didn't get out until 3pm something. Almost immediately after returning home from some light grocery shopping we went over to Auntie Kim's house and had a feast.

There were at least four pounds of shrimps total, in cold dish and hot dish. Then there were crabs, chicken, duck, sandwich wraps, salted soybeans (my new addiction), and chinese soup. I was so effing happy you have no idea.

Then I got to hang out with Popeye, Michelle, and Sam, which is awesome because we don't get to do that alot. (-w-)b And we basically wasted time until it was time for me to go home.

Also, apparently Popey is making shirts now, and he designed his own logo? I'm not sure about that topic but he promised all three of us shirts. 8D

Break Out the Cider!

Even if there IS going to be an earthquake tomorrow, I'm still super excited now! Finals just ended for me and I'm eating my celebratory flan that I bought yesterday! Sweet, sweet nectar of relief. I think I did shitty, but there might be a curve. For now, I'll just keep eating.

And because we are responsible college students we're going to drink cider instead of... other unfavorable beverages that might get us in jail, I can't wait til my other freed comrades get back from their finals so we can savor the sweetness of hip-hip-hurrah together. =w=b

Coming home tomorrow by 3pm! Super happy. Better start packing soon....

EARTHQUAKE COMING TO CALIFORNIA (and north america)!

If this guys says it then it is probably coming true! Get ready to run at a moment's notice!!!
